On September 27, LG Signature Suite in Milan, Italy, hosted a ‘K-Food Cooking Class’ with famous chefs from both countries to capture the tastes of the Italian chef network and consumers.
This event was led by Chef Kim Min-seok, who is active in Milan and is famous for his YouTube channel ‘Kim Milan’, and invited Italian chef network FIPPC and buyers to introduce various recipes using eight types of excellent K-foods, including samgyetang, kimchi, rice, and traditional liquor, drawing a hot response from locals.
Giorgio, the CEO of FIPPC, which has over 100 active members including Michelin star chefs and catering chefs, said, “The unique dishes, such as samgyetang risotto and kimchi-maki spaghetti, which combine traditional Korean food and Italian food culture, were very interesting,” and added, “I hope this kind of harmonious development continues in the future.”
In particular, the cooking class explained recipes for kimchi fried rice, kimchi roll spaghetti, etc. using Korean ingredients sold locally in Italy in an easy-to-understand manner, and also conducted a live broadcast on SNS so that not only the chefs and buyers who participated in the event but also consumers all over Italy could actually purchase K-food and cook it themselves.
Daniela from Italian media outlet Scatti Di Gusto, who participated in the cooking class, said, “I’m glad I learned how to make kimchi fried rice using kimchi blocks and instant rice today,” and “It’s so easy to make and tastes so good that I’ll be making it at home often in the future.”
Marco, a manager at a large local retail store, said, “We’re constantly looking for new and good products, and this time, we learned about many excellent K-foods such as samgyetang and ramen, so we’re going to seriously consider importing the products.”
